Expertise in high-risk care

Maternal-fetal medicine specialists with the skills and technology to care for pregnant women who are at high risk due to health conditions like diabetes or heart disease, multiples (twins, triplets), being over age 35 at their due date, or a family history of genetic disorders.

The region’s only maternal risk program with coordinated care for expectant moms at high risk for or with cardiovascular disease, or are at risk for complications, providing you with a caring team to develop the cohesive, connected plan that is right for you.

Care that listens. Care that puts you first.

At Virtua, we believe every parent deserves care that listens, supports, and empowers. Here, your voice will always be heard—respected by a team that partners with you, not just cares for you.

Your Voice Matters
Through our TeamBirth model, we promote open, respectful communication between you, your care team, and your support partner. Frequent huddles during labor and delivery ensure your preferences are heard and your decisions are supported.

Support That Goes Beyond Medical Care
Virtua’s Doula Services provide emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Our midwives offer guidance on labor preparation, breathing techniques, breastfeeding, and lifelong wellness—from adolescence to menopause.

Prioritizing Your Mental Health
Virtua offers specialized care for perinatal mood disorders, including postpartum depression. Our Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD) program—the only one of its kind in South Jersey—is led by licensed clinical social workers who specialize in maternal mental health.

Advanced Care for Your Baby
Our state-designated Level III NICU at Virtua Voorhees and Level II Special Care Nurseries at Virtua Memorial and Our Lady of Lourdes provide expert care for newborns who need extra support—staffed by Children's Hospital of Philadelphia neonatologists.

"I felt heard at Virtua Health."

Amber didn’t think she could have children after being diagnosed with PCOS, polycystic ovarian syndrome. As a woman of color, she felt the clinicians at Virtua truly listened to her concerns, and especially when she was surprised to hear she needed to go to the emergency room - her appendix ruptured.

The Perfect Storm of Complications

Kasey always believed that pregnancy was the most beautiful thing in the world. So after three relatively uneventful pregnancies, she decided to become a surrogate.

But Kasey wasn't prepared for the difficulties she would experience. Considered a high risk because she was carrying twins, she was placed under the care of the Virtua Maternal-Fetal Medicine team.

“The best part of the job – helping women through the most important moments of their life.”

Forming a meaningful connection with you is paramount at Virtua OBGYN. Providing a healthy, personalized prenatal care and delivery experience is why our providers have cared for generations of women, from pregnancy through delivery, seeing them year after year and seeing their babies grow.
