Host Guidelines

A few things to consider before applying to host the mobile screening unit:

  • There is no fee to host. We provide screenings for insured and uninsured individuals.
  • We primarily schedule screening events on weekdays, Monday through Friday. Screenings usually run from 8 am to 4 pm.
  • We require 20 pre-registered screening participants and prefer that participants register 14 days prior to the screening date. Walk-ins are not accepted.
  • We recommend that you designate a site coordinator as our main point of contact.
  • Host sites are responsible for publicizing the screening event 60-90 days prior to the date.

Site Requirements

To ensure the best experience for everyone, host sites must provide:

  • Waiting area for participants prior to screening
  • Restrooms for screening participants
  • Paved and level parking area that is:
    • 60 feet by 15 feet with a 14 foot height clearance
    • Accessible without sharp turns in narrow areas
    • Has no low tree branches
  • Host sites must be located in Burlington, Camden, or Gloucester County, NJ

About the Mobile Health and Screening Unit

Virtua’s state-of-the-art, 40-foot vehicle is staffed by a board-certified clinician and a technologist who provide onsite screenings and health education. We accept most major insurances, Medicare, and Medicaid. If your group is primarily uninsured or underinsured, we provide free screenings through the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection (NJCEED) Program.

Screening services include:

  • 3D mammography
  • Clinical breast exams
  • Gynecologic exams and pap tests
  • Colorectal screenings via a take-home stool kit
  • PSA blood tests for prostate cancer (not available at all events)
  • Additional screenings for chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease may also be offered through the Wisewoman program for those who qualify.
